I also love the feeling that I’m “up-to-date” in my relationships. This brings me freedom and power. (And you know I’m talking about the kind of power that has nothing to do with force or control.) When I say up-to-date, I mean first of all that I’ve let past stuff go and I’m seeing my loved ones and coworkers and neighbours for who they are right now. Allowing the possibility for a new way of seeing one another, fresh expressions of who we are. The other stuff is dead, gone, and so am I when I hang on to that. Also, up-to-date in my expressions of love and appreciation. “Have I told you lately that I love you?” Them’s powerful words: I love you. Especially when I actually mean it and I’m not just flinging it out there in passing or trying to manipulate. When I mean it, what I’m really saying is that I want you to be happy in the way that you choose. I want you to find your satisfaction in the way that works for you. And I’m willing to allow you to be unhappy if that’s your choice. I will still stand here and love you.
The world is changing very fast and sometimes it seems like an exhilarating rollercoaster ride. Sometimes it’s overwhelming, and then I take a step back to find my footing, my Self. When I come back to myself, I remember what’s important. I remember that the only way I can really make a difference is by a refusal to let the world make me crazy or pull me from my Home, this beautiful and wide space that I truly am. This is how I want to live, no matter how much time I’ve got left – and I have a feeling it’s a while yet.
Wishing you, my beautiful friend, the fulfillment of every desire that springs from the depths of your heart.
I invite you to join me in Spirit this Sunday at 5pm in meditation on these thoughts, from wherever you are. Let our hearts be joined, for just a couple minutes or the whole 45.
