Today’s card offers another invitation to stop trying so hard. “MEDITATION & PRAYER: Meditation and prayer are just words. The words suggest two similar vehicles (maybe one is red and one is blue) used to get to the same place: here & now. Home. This is where the Light of the diamond shines. There are 10,000 ways to meditate and pray, and the right one is whatever leads you to your Self. It’s been said that prayer is speaking to God, and meditation is listening to Him (or Her, or It, or our inner Buddha). Both require a move from the head to the heart, or the belly, or the big toe – some way of discovering the space between thoughts. You could still and quiet, watch the breath, notice thoughts, let them go. It’s a good practice. Anything could be made into something sacred and holy, if it is done with love, if there’s an intent to become free and joyful and connected with the flow of Life. Taking out the garbage can be a meditation, exercising can be a prayer, so can doing the dishes, painting a picture, even speaking to someone. Your whole life can be a prayer of asking and receiving and celebrating and sharing. Every moment can be lived in awareness of the Beautiful Truth that rests behind and between thoughts. But we can just start with one conscious breath today. Tomorrow, maybe two. It’s easy, when we stop trying so hard. Come Home. Be still and know. Ahhhh . . . Enjoy.”
As before, I went into meditation with the intent to draw a card to benefit all who read this. I’ll admit I was hoping for a card that was more fun. But there is a beautiful theme unfolding these past four days, leading us into ourselves for nurturance, perhaps. There are cards in the deck that refer to action and more outward stuff, but it seems we’re getting the cards for tuning in to what’s happening around us, and within us, in this moment. And after all, there really is treasure to be found here. Wishing you a joyful journey today, as you check in with your beautiful self in the ways that feel right to you. Tune in tomorrow for day 5’s card. Thank you.
