Maybe you want to begin a healthier, more balanced diet. Or quit smoking. Or maybe you simply want to start a practice of waking up and immediately thinking of three things you're grateful for, or relieved about. What a powerful way to begin a day with good energy.
Or it might be fun to have a 30 day vacation from worry. You deserve to relax and enjoy your life. Worry is pointless, pointless. Fix the problem, or if you can't, drop it, shift attention elsewhere. Set the intention to "reset" your mind every time you catch it starting to spin in fretful thoughts, anytime you catch yourself feeling edge-y. You notice the worry, congratulate yourself for noticing, and shift your thoughts to something soothing. Keep the word "vacation" as your mantra for the month. Sinful! What about all the responsibility? Well, see what has fallen apart at the end of the 30 days, without your anxious attention. Nothing. All is well. And you are healthier and more at ease.
What about a 30 day break from the news? Forget the papers, the radio, the 6:00 (bad) news. What do you do with the information anyway - save the world? Or just feel discouraged. How about you be the one to decide what's news. Ask the universe to send you the happy information, the good surprises, stories about kindness and courage and wisdom - they're everywhere! You'll be amazed at what begins flowing to you.
Doing something just once opens a new neuropathway in the brain. That's why it seems to take that extra effort in the beginning, to break that little barrier, but it gets easier and easier as the route becomes more travelled.
If you want to join in, just do. You will have our support. If you want to share anything or ask questions, leave comments. I do find it helpful to make a chart that i can check off at the end of each day.
May the new moon bless our efforts, may our good intentions catch fire and continue to inspire.
